✈️ YOUR EXPERIENCE

Day 1 - Fly to Flinders Island - Whitemark - Strzelecki NP - Unavale Vineyard - Lady Barron

Depart Launceston Airport (8am) for your scenic flight to the stunning Flinders Island. On arrival at Whitemark Airport be

welcomed by our local guide and driven to the township of Whitemark for an introductory tour including the wharf,

community rose garden, art gallery and famous Bowman's General Store.

Continue on to the beautiful Strzelecki National Park for some short walks. Have your cameras ready at Trousers Point beach, a famous photogenic area with turquoise waters, crisp white sand and Mt. Strzelecki’s towering granite crags

forming a backdrop to the pristine half-moon beach.

Here's we will enjoy a picnic lunch in this beautiful setting.

By now we are ready for a wine. Next we'll visit Unavale Vineyard for a delightful vineyard tour and wine tasting in their cellar door. Our guide will then drive

us to Lady Barron to view Yellow Beach and the busy shipping port.

Afterwards, we will check in to the country style Furneaux Tavern with panoramic views over Franklin Sound and across to"Truwanna" (Cape Barren Island). This will be our accommodation for the next three nights.

Day 2 Castle Rock - North East River - Palana - Killiecrankie - Furneaux Museum

Today we will explore the northern end of the island starting with the photogenic Castle Rock. We'll enjoy morning tea at North

East River, a favourite spot for local fisherman. We'll travel to the far northern area of Palana, site of coastal surveillance at the

start of World War 2. Next, we'll take a stroll along beautiful Killiecrankie Bay beach, keeping an eye out for the famous

Killiecrankie diamond, followed by a picnic lunch.

After lunch, visit the interesting Furneaux Museum at Emita which contains a wonderful collection of records and exhibits

of the island’s history, maritime heritage, natural artifacts and island lifestyle. This will be followed by a visit to the newly

established Furneaux Distillery.

Afterwards, travel back to Lady Barron for some activities before dinner (or a rest)

Day 3 – Cameron's Inlet - Allports Beach - Wybalenna - Shearwater viewing - Furneaux Distillery

After a later start, we head east today through the large rural cattle farms, with lush green rolling paddocks. Drive past

Cameron’s Inlet, breeding ground for black swans and many species of duck and then walk along the very long Planter

beach. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in Whitemark at the "local pub", The Interstate Hotel.

This afternoon we will then discover the sad history of Wybalenna, a small settlement established in 1833 – 1847 to house

Tasmanian Aboriginal people brought to Flinders Island by George Robinson. Today, the only remaining building is the red

brick chapel which has been restored by the National Trust and is of national heritage significance.

Finish the day at the shearwater (mutton bird) viewing platform at Port Davies before travelling to Whitemark for cocktails

and an intimate dinner at the Missing Goose Eatery & Cocktail Bar.

Day 4 - Furneaux Geotrail - Wombats - Walkers Lookout - Fly Home

For our last day on Flinders Island, we spend time discovering the stories written in the landscape along the spectacular

and significant Furneaux Geotrail, which developed over the last 420 million years. Learn about the geology and important

geological events that have shaped the current landscape.

Next, we travel to Whitemark to enjoy a final lunch at the Golf Club. Afterwards, we have the chance to meet the famous "wombat lady" (if available) with her many orphaned wombats for you to cuddle.

Enroute to the airport, travel to Walkers Lookout for panoramic island views in every direction.

Enjoy our late afternoon short but scenic flight home (arriving back in Launceston at 5:30pm)
